Hello!

Growing up, I always loved the prospect of running a business. Setting up lemonade stands near my house, I would plan out the product, pricing, signage, and location in an attempt to maximize sales. I enjoyed all of the possibilities and decisions that a business had to offer, allowing me to learn from the outcomes and make appropriate changes.

Back in 2015, inspired by a Junior Achievement entrepreneurship demo at school, I knew I wanted to create something more scalable than a lemonade stand. At a wedding later that spring, I was amazed by a large log that seemed to burn by itself! Curious about fires like the one I saw, I looked into various designs of Swedish Torches: self-sustained one-log fires. I knew I had found the product. Torches were something I could design and build that complemented my interest in nature and the outdoors.

As I began to prototype and perfect a design with the help of my dad, we quickly realized the complexity of the chimney mechanism that keeps the torch burning. Through trial and error, we reached a more refined and consistent process, landing on a design that was reliable and streamlined.

Eventually, I sold enough torches to buy a miter saw and repay my Dad for tools he bought to get me started. Though now at Babson College, my passion for business and torches continues to burn!
